The Black Cat Inn

5ta calle poniente No. 11a, Antigua, Guatemala

Black Cat hostel as a place for Antigua’s travelers to rest their heads. Surrounded by the remnants of Guatemala’s Colonial era, the Black Cat Inn is the more quiet, relaxed sister of The Black Cat Hostel.

We have comfortable single, double and triple private rooms. All rooms have a private bathroom with hot water, T.V. with cable and a great breakfast included. The restaurant is open from 8am until 10 pm and you can choose to have breakfast, lunch or dinner on our amazing terrace overlooking Antigua and surrounding volcanoes! We also have another cool downstairs bar and with very friendly staff. Also, most of the rooms are around the ‘patio’, the colonial gardens from Guatemala.

Along with the comforts of modern and clean facilities, our hostel also offers free breakfast, internet and a movie room with a wide array of classic and recent movies—all courtesy of the house.  And of course, for our guests we have a happy hour in the bar every night (the hangover is cured wonderfully by the delicious free breakfast the next morning!)

Base Camp Hostel Antigua

1st Av. Sur, Antigua, Guatemala

Our mission at Base Camp Hostel is to provide ten beds (6 dorm, 2 private rooms) for the adventured traveler who prefer quality over quantity. (There is quite literally more shared space than beds) We boast the best open kitchen in Antigua, well equipped for guests to use as well as a dining room and living room (We even have a ping pong table!). We also have a cool lounge area for dvd/tv/music/library enjoyment. It feels like home.

Both the Private rooms are bright spaces bathed in natural dark wood. One is simply reminded of comfort and pleasure of a mountain chalet at every turn.

  1. And perhaps I can leave one more? The Terrace Hostel (#1 on…)

    Check us out @

    The Terrace Hostel:

Located in the heart of the city, The Terrace is Antigua’s first boutique hostel, boasting views of the city and volcanic landscape.

The newly opened Terrace Hostel offers guests a unique stay in one of the most picturesque cities in Central America. We consider The Terrace a “boutique hostel,” meaning we provide the comforts of a hotel – clean rooms with brand new amenities, The Terrace Bar & Grill on our rooftop, spectacular views of the city and the volcanic landscape, library, TV & DVD collection, hammocks, Wi-Fi & free breakfast – all for hostel prices. We also have scooters and bicycles available to rent and we organize “off the beaten path” tours (i.e. volcano hiking, wine & chocolate tasting, Mayan shrines, leather factories, and more). And by the way, we are the only hostel in town that presents you with a complimentary welcome drink upon arrival!

The Terrace – the soul of the house and the inspiration behind the hostel’s name – is where it all happens: BBQ, the most affordable happy hour in Antigua (offered 12-7:30pm every night of the week), lounge chairs for basking in the sun, a stocked bar, & a monthly theme party! The Terrace has everything today’s backpacker could possibly need.
